Coal is one of the first ten Labradors to earn the GCH title. He also has multiple Champion and Specialty winning puppies. In 2015, two of the JAMs in the final lineup at Potomac were Coal kids, as was the BBE black bitch class winner and WB finalist. He has become a truly great producers, almost regardless of the bitch he is bred to.
To place in a Sporting Group of the caliber of Portland/Puyallup is incredible, and Coal has done it three years in a row. Coal is an amazing show dog, full of enthusiasm and never puts a foot wrong. His movement has the effortless grace correct for a Labrador. A number of judges have now told me: "This is an extraordinary Labrador. He is a unique combination of the type and substance specialty judges love, yet has the balance and movement to appeal to all breed judges. You should consider carefully sending him out with the right handler, because I believe he could win Best In Shows at the highest level." But we would miss him, so he will always stay with me, and only be shown on a limited basis. He had already defeated close to 1,500 dogs just three weeks into 2011, but now mostly goes to specialties, where he has made history by winning PSLRA eight times, as well as the biggest west coast specialty, SJVLRC, from the veterans class. We are so proud of him, he is an absolute magnet for attention, exhibitors and judges alike remark on what a great Labrador he is. **The first Coal puppies are taking the showroom by storm! At latest count, he has produced more than a dozen puppies who have gone Winners or Best in Sweeps at specialties, and I may have missed some. Our Eva won back to back WB and Best of Winners at the lovely RCLRC Specialties, under breeder-judges Laura Dedering and Gail Shearer. Coal has twice now had young daughters go WB and BOW for majors when he takes BOB. Heidi Herman's Scribbles has won seven specialty Best in Sweeps and four majors, most of those specialty wins. Eva's littermate, Parker, took back-to-back BOB's his second weekend of dog shows. Congrats to Ruth and Randy Hoffman for their "Pogo" going Best Puppy and RWB at HRLRC, from the 6-9 month bitch class, and WB, Best in Sweeps, Best Puppy, and a JAM at MJLRC! And to Kathy Gibson, for going WD with her Coal son, "Helo," at both his and Kathy's very first dog show at just six months old! Linda Mafett's six month old Coal son was WD and RWD at specialties in Canada, Best Puppy, and Puppy Group 1. There are now too many wins to list, Coal has become an amazing producer, the quality of his puppies is remarkable. **

Coal has created such a buzz at the Group level because of his amazing ability to show himself. He is the best kind of showdog there is--there are no holes. Nothing to hide, he is big, has a lovely head, tons of coat, is structurally right on with a stick of a topline. He never stops wagging his tail and never puts his ears down. But the most fun of all is after all that, after knowing he is wowing them--he gets to move. He loves to fly out to the end of the leash, tail always right off the back, and he just floats. I have yet to show him where he hasn't given me goosebumps. His enthusiasm is truly contagious. I am very, very proud to have bred this dog, even if I am usually gasping for breath by the time we walk out of the ring. :)
He is Rah Rah's Christmas present to us, our little singleton, Nipntuck Stocking Stuffer--Coal. Coal had the run of the house as a baby and is a riot, for sure. The kids treated him like a stuffed animal, so I'm not sure what he thinks he is. He is watched over here by his Momma's Potomac goose, sending best wishes for his future.
